The Chesapeake Outdoor Group (COG) is hosting the 8th Annual 12 oz. Regatta to benefit Annapolis Community Boating on Saturday, August 20, 2010.
This year's 12 oz. Regatta is being
held at the Port Annapolis Marina Pavilion, and sponsored by
Budweiser. Come out and join the fun!
Last year's regatta was a tremendous success! It was well
attended, providing solid exposure for sponsors, with strong
competition in four categories of racers completing two round robins,
including the 'Industry Challenge Class', which invited sponsors to
compete.
Over the last five years, this event has raised over
$10,000 for the Annapolis Maritime Museum. COG hopes to continue the
success of this event – come join the fun!
For a tax deductible donation, competitors are provided
with a five-gallon bucket which includes a Regatta T-shirt, a six-pack
of beer (or soda for our under-age competitors) and a materials kit of
household items to be used for assembling a custom racing boat.
Completed boats must be constructed only from materials
provided in the bucket, and the assembled boat must be able to fit
inside of the bucket. The racing takes place in a purpose built pool
under the Port Annapolis pavilion with electric fans providing the
wind.
