can for kids class).
2011 Sailing
Instructions (pdf)
To ensure fair competition, all boats must be able to fit within the
provided “bucket” and only be constructed of the provided materials.
All boats will be measured and examined for compliance prior to racing.
Competitors may elect to sail in the following classes (subject to
approval by the race committee, and minimum number of eight entries per
class):
- Root Beer Class (for children 12 and under with adult supervision)
- Sport Class (Boat must have a beer can in its original shape used in construction)
- Grand Prix (Must fit in bucket and use materials provided)(Advanced class).
- Sponsor Challenge (for local businesses, various sponsorship levels available)
Entrants will receive buckets and the materials with
which to build their boats. Additionally, class rules and sailing
instructions will be presented and reviewed. It is strongly recommended
competitors attend to learn about the new rules concerning this year’s
regatta. On the day of the event, competitors will have an “open
course” practice session prior to racing to work out any final details
of their design. The race committee will also be on hand for mandatory
boat measurement prior to the regatta (all boats must fit in the bucket
in racing trim).
Racing will be conducted in a “round robin” format,
allowing all competitors in a class to race one another and participate
in multiple races. Class winners will be determined by the best score
across all races. |
